Basic Respect is a Melbourne-born basics brand built on one simple idea: do the simple things well.

Founded by Lukanda and Jerome, we create clean, timeless pieces that feel good, fit right, and actually last. No logos, no trends, just premium essentials made to be worn every day.

Lukanda spent years working as a model with some of the world’s biggest fashion brands. After seeing how great clothing is made, he set out to create something of his own, something stripped back and built to last.

Jerome studied fashion and textiles at uni and went on to work with leading Australian fashion labels, hands-on in everything from design to logistics. His experience showed him what works, and what the industry needed more of.

Together, they created Basic Respect, a brand grounded in quality, simplicity, and intention.
